Sometimes we do it out of respect and mostly out of fear. basically any person who has a higher authority than us. So many of us are petrified of correcting the mistakes of our professors, managers, parents, instructors etc. We don’t want to be the one standing on the edge and so we choose comfort over efforts, rumours over truth and ignorance over knowledge.

True belonging is the spiritual practice of believing in and belonging to yourself so deeply that you can share your most authentic self with the world and find sacredness in both being a part of something and standing alone in the wilderness. And that is the catch, if you belong to yourself you will never have to belong anywhere else. Because if you don’t belong to yourself first, if you don’t value yourself first, if you don’t love yourself first and if you don’t believe in yourself first – you will never truly belong anywhere. We try to hide our flaws, camouflage our true personas and manipulate others into liking us. In the process of fitting in and belonging someplace, we often try to change ourselves.
